In the Land of Maple Leaves
by Tom Bajoras
To soothe the pain of day
I welcome a blanket of stars.
Under the night sky,
my garden sleeps.
The moon appears from
behind a mountain—
Beyond that mountain
there are mountains even higher.
Red leaf branches
are temple pillars.
The moon disappears
behind a cloud.
Wind in leaves
whispers secrets.
Days falling like leaves
are gone forever.
